Gerda Roubos of STE Languages chosen as NT2 teacher of the year
29 september 2024
At the BVNT2 Conference on 28th September in Antwerp, Gerda Roubos was elected NT2 Teacher of the Year. STE Languages is delighted and very proud of our colleague, who has more than earned this recognition. Gerda is not only a very good professional, but also a very charming colleague who we can all count on.
Every year, the BVNT2 Board organises an election for NT2 Teacher of the Year. This year, NT2 teachers in the Netherlands and Flanders were called upon to nominate a special colleague. The jury - the BVNT2 Board - selected three nominees from the many entries. The winner was announced on Saturday 28th September 2024 during the BVNT2 Conference in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Antwerp. Quote from the jury report: "Gerda has a strong background in education. She trained as a primary school teacher, has a master’s degree in educational science and is a certified NT2 teacher. She immediately links theory to practice. ‘Let students do it themselves!’, is her credo. What makes Gerda truly special is her ability to empathize with each student. One of her most important skills is that she can present complex material in a simple, clear way, making it accessible to everyone. Her versatility – as a teacher and developer – makes her a special NT2 teacher".
In the photo, Gerda Roubos is congratulated by Esther Hettema-ter Beek, NT2 teacher, trainer/owner Interbeek Support BV, Chair of BVNT2 (Professional Association of NT2 Teachers) and Annie Van Avermaet, a well-known Belgian Dutch language and literature specialist after whom the prize is named.
