SkillsTown and STE Languages launch a series of podcasts series for internationals

22 august 2022

In collaboration with the online trainer SkillsTown, STE Languages has started a series of podcasts aimed at internationals and expats in the Netherlands. In the English podcast “Internationals on living in Holland”, each episode has an international speaker who talks about his or her first experiences with the language, culture and customs of our country. The podcast series will be added to the STE Languages and SkillsTown online learning environments on Spotify, Apple and Google podcast.

The podcast is presented by Merel Meijer, Dutch teacher at STE Languages: “I have personal conversations with expats, in which they talk candidly about their first experiences with Dutch people. We talk about manners, typical Dutch habits and of course about our language. In every episode I give language tips about, for example, the pronunciation of Dutch and difficult grammatical constructions. We also discuss special expressions and funny words.”

STE Languages Director-owner, Wilfried Gradus: “The aim of the podcast series is to contribute to the retention of international talent in the Netherlands. By letting internationals speak for themselves and letting them tell you about their personal experiences, recognition and connection with each other is created. Learning the Dutch language contributes to more self-confidence, personal growth and a longer stay in the Netherlands”.

SkillsTown Programme Manager, Peter van den Hout: “We are a global player and now also have a very extensive English-language learning offer. With this podcast series we mainly serve expats who work for multinationals in the Netherlands that purchase our English-language offer for their employees. In this way, we help them with their first steps at the work place. At the same time, we hold up a mirror to their Dutch colleagues, which can lead to fun conversations at the coffee machine.”
