The Dutch language as a key to a career in IT
28 october 2025
How do you bridge the gap between language and technology? Together with Motopp, we have developed a practical language programme for refugees (from various municipalities) who are starting their careers in IT. Motopp trains IT skills, while we at STE Languages teach IT-related language. IT is a field with its own jargon, communication formats, and corporate culture. That's why we at STE Languages didn't focus on 'classic' language learning, but on language in context. We call this job-oriented language training.
In this IT programme, we teach participants, among other things:
- IT-specific vocabulary and jargon
- Writing emails, giving feedback, and presenting
- Communicating in a team
Currently, we have a group of 11 people at a central location in Utrecht, preparing them for the B2 level with plenty of personal attention, an experienced language trainer, and a strong learning environment. The result? Successful preparation for the future in IT services where language is no longer a barrier, but rather a bridge to opportunities. We are proud of this collaboration with Motopp and the participants who are working diligently on their futures.
