Successful business abroad is impossible without a good command of language

13 february 2021

Do you want to do business abroad? Or do you want to make new business contacts and strengthen your relationship with existing customers? Especially in the current 'online era', the language in which you communicate with your international business partners has a lot of influence on how your conversation goes.

STE Languages has developed a number of targeted training courses especially for companies that do business abroad in collaboration with NLinBusiness - an initiative of VNO-NCW, MKB-Nederland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

We often choose English as our communication language, but German, French and Spanish are also important international communication languages. The Dutch often assume that they can express themselves precisely and in a nuanced way, which prevents miscommunication, but unfortunately this is not always the case. In many situations the conversation is difficult and there is uncertainty as to whether your conversation partner understands you properly. This is caused by the use of expressions, colloquialisms and technical terms. The emotional effect of a good command of a language also plays an important role here; if you have a good command of a language, you will appear more convincing and with more self-confidence. Which significantly increases the chance of business success.

Do you recognize this? We have developed a number of targeted training courses specifically for companies that do business abroad. These training courses can be followed both face to face and online, but also individually and in groups. These trainings are:

  • Language coaching English, German, Spanish and French (individual)
  • Business English and German (group training)
  • e-Coaching English, German, Spanish, French and other languages (individual)

hese courses are short and practical, aimed at improving and professionalizing your language skills with a direct positive effect on the business. The specific wishes of the participant are central to the training. Is it about presenting, reporting, making phone calls, negotiating, handling complaints, chairing or 'social talk'?

All our training courses are listed on the website of the International Business Academy of NLinBusiness*, the 'one stop shop' platform for international entrepreneurs. There you can read more about it and also directly apply.
